Hello. I'm very sorry... as you can see, I don't speak French at all. I used a translation program, which obviously does not work very well. I decided to post in English just in case someone could answer.
From what I gather, most people that replied are not too keen on giving me any info and are telling others not too either. I understand that this video does not show kayaking in all it's glory, but you must understand that our show is called "Most Daring." It is a rescue show. We show rescues of all types... skiing, skydiving, boating, fires, car accidents, rescues from buildings, etc. We are not trying to show kayaking or any other sport in a negative way. It is primarily to show the rescue.
From other kayaking groups I've spoken with they believe the rescue went horribly. I understand this may be true, but the kayaker was saved despite that.
I have already contacted the person who posted the video on Youtube and it isn't their video. They got the video about a year ago on a French website. That is why I'm posting here... to see if I could find someone in the kayaking community to help me. This is how we have found many of our stories. Groups like these have been very helpful in working with us.
Sorry once again for my lack of French speaking skills. I didn't realize the translation program messed up what I was trying to say until after I posted.
If you have any information on who the owner of the video is, or a website that may know, or anything, please let me know. I would appreciate it greatly.
Best,
Shaun

Ils aiment bien, on dirait.

You're completely right!
Most of us here don't really want to help you for the simple reason, that most of us do not appreciate the sensational show you are producing. Actually producing is not really adequate word for what you do, because you don't even produce images yourself. It looks like youtube is your main source of images...

dear shaun
If you really want some rescue videos, don't even look at this one, it is not showing any rescue but the contrary, a non rescue, people that are adding themselves to the number of people to save.
+1 with the other ones on this thread, TV doesn't need this kind of videos.
If you want to be useful to your audience, instead of showing people in danger, almost dying, to sustain the death hunger of mankind, maybe you can make a reel show on safety, explaining what is dangerous, why it is dangerous, with scientific facts and explanations. That kind of show would save lives instead of leaving them inconscious, needing warning labels everywhere explaining them for example that a hot coffee may burn, that listening to an iPod while crossing a street may prevent them from hearing a coming car.
Here are to topics that came to my mind quickly :
How wild water works? How to make knots for rock climbing ? What to do if your boat sink, in case of an earthquake or a flood ?
I leave you this show concept for free, you're welcome.
I hope this won't be to hard for you to find other subjects, to find specialists and, overall, a go from your program director. It would be harder than browsing Youtube and the web in general, but I'm sure you're a man of challenge and a lousy production assistant.

Zan: Thank you for your reply. Yes, we would absolutely be interested in a rescue that goes by the book. But this video did capture a real moment whether it went by the book or not. Not all rescues go perfectly smooth. But thank you for the thought.
Sylvain: Yes, you are correct... we do get videos from other sources like the internet, amateur videos, and news sources. Amateur video is the nature of the show. If you don't like that kind of show, that is very understandable. We did produce "Totally Outrageous Behavior" which is no longer in production. As I've said, the show we are producing now is called "Most Daring" which is strictly rescues. Most are rescues that went right, but occasionally we have rescues that didn't go as smooth.
san_a: What you are saying we should produce is an scientific instructional video covering a broad range of topics. I don't know if you've seen many instructional videos, but they will put you to sleep... Just think of those types of videos they make for "safety at the office" or driving school videos... The problem with those videos is they are boring and not entertaining. These are videos that teach safety and instructions and unfortunately have no dramatic value that a television audience is looking for. If there was a huge audience for that, you would see more of those shows.
To all that can understand English... I apologize for not speaking French. You must understand that our show covers videos from all over the world and it's impossible to speak every language. We need to reach out to people in many countries. If I were to learn French today, we may find a video from Russia tomorrow and one from Morocco the next day. I posted here in hopes someone spoke English and could help me.
Thank you for those that have considered helping me or at least thought of other ideas.

sbenzon, if ur show is strictly about rescues, as san_a said you should consider showing real rescue attempts, this one is nothing but fellas who jump into the stuff without any idea of what to do. the rope guy is not even at the right place to help in any kind the swimmers !
I m sure you can find plenty of dramatic videos on youtube and anywhere else, that show at least efficient rescue, not luck...
you may even find the owner and full information

Tryxan: We do have many other rescues. We are producing 13, one-hour long episodes of rescues. Most of the rescues we have in the show are done by professionals.. firefighters, police officers, etc. People being rescued from burning buildings, people rescued from floods, people rescued in avalanches and many others. But we are also including rescues done by average people or 'good Samaritans." This kayaking video is only one example of the many clips we are interested in.

Just think of those types of videos they make for "safety at the office" or driving school videos... The problem with those videos is they are boring and not entertaining.
These are videos that teach safety and instructions and unfortunately have no dramatic value that a television audience is looking for. If there was a huge audience for that, you would see more of those shows.
;)
sbenson : "EVO" is a website where people dont look for "dramatic value" and don't think that safety as to do with "entertraiment". You are on a wrong place to find that !
