6.4 Competition Format
Preliminaries - Wave/Hole Riding
• Two 45 second rides, both scores count (add together)
• Athletes are randomly selected in heats for the preliminaries.
• Women Athletes are seeded by preliminary results. 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5
with a maximum of 20 and a minimum of 10 competitors will advance to the Quarter Finals.
• Men Athletes are seeded by preliminary results. 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5
with a maximum of 40 and a minimum of 10 competitors will advance to the Quarter Finals.
• Women and Men Athletes – 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5 is less than 10 – class
will advance to the Semi Finals. 25% of the class rounded to the nearest 5 is 5 – class will
advance to the Finals
Quarter Finals - Wave/Hole Riding only
• Three 45 second rides, best two scores count.
• Top 15 Men competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
• Top 10 Women competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
Semi Finals - Wave/Hole Riding
• Two 45 second rides, best score counts.
• For K1 - All 15 Men do two rides, top 5 go to finals.
• For K1 - All 10 Women do two rides, top 5 go to finals.
Finals - Wave/Hole Riding for title of World Champion
• 45 seconds for each ride
• All 5 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
