hi there!

we are three austrian kaykers who want to go to paddle in the tarn region in the end of march. as we never have been there and we unfortunately can´t speak french (just spanish...) we found different information about snow levels and so on in the net.

what do you think? is from 23rd to 31th march a good time to paddle there? how do snow levels look like and do water levels depend on it mainly or do we need rain?

maybe we would also visit south france...

hope to hear from you soon

Hi,

The water levels in the Tarn and the Cevennes area depend mostly on the rain. Snow melting on the Mont Lozère could give a good flow but it will be difficult to time.

Take care,
Fred

Hi Fabian,

As Fred said, the water levels depend mostly on the rain so it is very hard to predict. End of march is not a bad time for the Cevennes but it is still a bet. So you should ask again a few days before your trip and be ready to switch for another destination in case there is no water. You can also plan to go there and bring some climbing / canyoning / Mountain biking gear in case there is no water.
I hope that helps and good luck!
