POSITION:National Coach
EMPLOYER:Canadian Canoe Association
INFORMATION: JOB OPENING - NATIONAL COACH
The Canadian Canoe Association is currently seeking to appoint a National Coach (full-time) based at the Canoeing Centre of Excellence in Chilliwack, BC.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The National Coach is accountable for Development- and Senior National Slalom Team athletes capable of achieving world class performances.
The National Coach is responsible to develop and present to the High Performance Director (PHD), the national team selection criteria and the training and competition schedule. The National Coach works with the PHD regularly to provide information needed for the administration of all high performance activities. The PHD is the chief administrator of the high performance system and must be consulted on all administrative and budgetary matters.
The position is one of high public visibility and therefore it is imperative that the coach represents the Association, its athletes, staff, volunteers and sponsors in a positive and professional manner at all times.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to deal on a daily basis with the demands of a high profile program. If you are seeking to be part of an ambitious environment, are team driven, highly organized, and possess experience in top level coaching, we would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Please state your earliest possible availability.
SPECIFIC SKILLS
· Coaching Experience (preferable national level)
· Languages (English necessary, French sufficient)
· Theoretical qualification (instructor or University degree)
· K1, C1, C2 – technically up-to-date with a strong focus on K1
· Attendance to work with athletes on a mental/psychological level
GENERAL SKILLS
· Organizational Skills, Team Worker
· Willingness to travel
· Ability and willing to use technical tools (MS-office, video, cross-fade-technique, internet, etc.)
· Long term commitment
